ExNE - East by North East - New Music from the East Coast of Aotearoa
On Saturday October 10th 2015, the first ExNE - East by North East - showcase of new music from the East Coast of Aotearoa was held at Smash Palace Bar in Gisborne.
Nine acts performed on the Sunshine Brewery outdoor stage with music styles ranging from fragile folk to monstrous metal.
This live DVD attempts to capture the unique atmosphere of this iconic live music venue while offering a snapshot of the original music being produced Out East.

One and a Half Men
One & a Half Men is made up of brothers Liam and Ronan Wallace with Liam on lead vocals and acoustic guitar while Ronan provides backing vocals on this particular track. Winners of the Pacifica Beats Duo Award in 2015, One & a Half Men's trajectory is assured. Check them out here.
Those Who Can
Left of Centre
Those Who Can features the talents of two of Gisborne's finest High School music teachers - Jane Egan on lead vocals and acoustic guitar and Anna-Marie Holmes on mandolin and backing vocals. Both are inspirational musicians in their own right.
Rest In Peace
Paul Jackson hails from Western Australia but has been domiciled on the East Coast of Aotearoa for some time now. A favourite at the Farmers Market on a Saturday, Paul's guitar prowess is impressive.
To A Man
"Big Rich" has been making up for a late musical start in life with a meteoric rise in Blues circles. On the street or on the stage, he's honed a reputation as a premier bluesman.
Between the Crosses
With an average age of 15 at the time of this recording, Catalyst hold nothing back on an epic original piece showing a skill level that belies their tender age. And they can rock !
Singer/songwriter Pete Stewart is joined by Trevor Herk on bass, Tar Rutherford on guitar and Andrew Kirk on drums on this driving number that has the boys finding bigger water.
An Eternity of War
Metal die-hards Harbinger rouse the Gods of Rock with this stirring anthem showcasing the lead vocals of Vincent Hogan, the pounding rhythms of Pete Wanoa, thunderous bass of Matt Greenstreet and guitar magic of Pauly Hohepa and Angus Gillies. Check them out here.
